The operation of an electric underfloor heating system is based on the principle of converting electricity into heat. The system is necessarily equipped with a thermostat, the task of which is to control the temperature regime and turn off the power. When laying two-core cables, additional insulation is made, which reduces electromagnetic radiation.

From the point of view of the type of heating element, the installation of a warm electric floor in an apartment or house involves varieties in the form of infrared, cable format and heating mats. In turn, cable ones are divided into the following subspecies:

• Single-core. They are distinguished by their budget cost. They are based on one metal core, which simultaneously performs the functions of a heater and a conductor.
• Two-core. They consist of two cores, one of which is responsible for heating, the other closes the circuit.
• With self-regulation. The basis is a matrix that regulates the intensity of heating depending on the ambient temperature. Such an electric warm floor in the house is characterized by ease and convenience of installation, provides significant energy savings. As for the heating mats, they are a ready-to-install structure made of fiberglass, in which a two-core cable is fixed. This format greatly facilitates installation work. The vast majority of models are equipped with a special adhesive film for quick fixation. The mats are offered to users in different sizes in width and length.

Turnkey installation of electric underfloor heating: what are its features?

Installation of heating elements of an electric heated floor is carried out mainly during construction, repairs, reconstructions, when demolishing and dismantling walls and partitions made of brick.

The main stages of installation work include the following:

• Preparation. The electric floor must be laid on a perfectly flat surface. Therefore, at the beginning it is necessary to level the rough base of the foundation.
• Surface cleaning. It is necessary to thoroughly sweep the rough floor with a damp broom or use a construction vacuum cleaner in the work.
• Preliminary calculation. The masters outline the places for laying the heating elements, since the efficiency of the future floor depends on the correct location.
• Laying the system elements. The heating parts of the cables should not intersect with each other, observing a distance of 30 mm.
• Floor testing. The system is connected to the power supply.

The final stage is laying the finishing coating. The electric heated floor can be combined with linoleum, laminate, tile, parquet, etc. In addition, the turnkey service includes garbage and construction waste removal.

Electric underfloor heating: how the installation price is determined

The cost of work is estimated individually for each project. The exact price is usually influenced by the following factors:

• Type of system. Laying a thin cable will cost more than installing ready-made heating mats or infrared film.
• Total area. The larger the dimensions of the room, the more it will cost to install an electric heated floor.
• Installation method. Laying elements directly into tile adhesive is estimated to be cheaper than installing in a cement-sand screed or concrete.
